Happy New Year!

I have just been looking through some of my favorite magazines from 2010 and here are some of my favorite editorial images from the September issue of Marie Claire.

Suiting Up

In the past few weeks, many stars have appeared on the red carpet wearings menswear showing that blazers and tailored pants can be chic when done correctly.  I love both of this different but flattering looks.  Jessica's fitted blazer accentuates her waist and the hairstyle and jewelry feminize the outfit.  Leighton's look is slightly more masculine, with a loose blazer and tie but she manages to balance it out with great heels.
Halle Berry has been a long time fan of menswear as well.  My favorite of her suited looks is this one from 2009.  I love the addition of leather leggins.  Also, Gwyneth Paltrow looked amazing in Giorgio Armani at the Iron Man 2 premier earlier this year.  The white works really well for her and the tailored shorts add a nice twist.  I am looking forward to seeing more menswear in 2011.  I am predicting that Victoria Beckham and Tom Ford will design some great suits and take menswear in new directions.

I ♥ NY

Although my trip to New York City yesterday was anything but relaxing, I still had quite the adventure running around the slush filled streets.  I have never been into the city right after a snow storm.  Clearly a little bit of snow doesn't stop New Yorkers from their daily business as the streets were packed.  I wish I had been there the day of the blizzard because I imagine the city is beautiful covered in clean, white snow.
I have just found out that I will be spending this summer in the city and I am beyond excited!  I'm going to have a very busy summer but I can't wait to explore the city more in my free time.  I love New York in the summer and I have been looking back on some of my old pictures in anticipation.

Lovely Miss Watson

I have been a Harry Potter fan since the books first came out and I have to admit, the realization that the whole ride will soon be coming to a close with the release of The Deathly Hallows Part II in July, makes me very sad.  So, it makes sense that Emma Watson is one of my favorite actresses.  I think she is brilliant both on and offscreen.  I have already seen some stills from her new movie My Week With Marilyn and I can't wait to see her playing a part that is not Hermione Granger.  Emma's fashion choices have also been exceptional as she has grown over the years.
I have to admit, when I first saw pictures of Emma's new pixie cut I was unsure how I felt about it.  However, once I saw her at the London premier of The Deathly Hallows in this Rafael Lopez dress I changed my mind completely.  Emma pulls off the pixie cut flawlessly, something that few can.  I also love how the dress offers a twist of the traditional LBD.
Emma has hit both on and off the red carpet and it is clear that Burberry is one of her favorites.  I am a bit disappointed that she is no longer the face of the brand but until next time.  I love each of the Burberry pieces that she wears in these photos - who doesn't love a Burberry trench?  My favorite look, however, has to be the fabulous white Burberry gown that she wore to the Met Gala earlier this year.  I can't wait to see what Emma will pull out in 2011.

Black Swan

I haven't gotten around to seeing Black Swan yet although I have been anticipating its release for several months now.  It's up for several Golden Globes and has been receiving Oscar buzz for some time.  Rodarte did the costumes and from what I have already seen, the designs are exquisite.  Until I see the film, I have been keeping myself occupied with Natalie Portman's spread in the January 2011 US Vogue.
This is probably my favorite photograph from the spread.  Natalie just looks so elegant in this Valentino gown.  I just wish that the image in the magazine was larger.  The ballet theme is clearly paired with Natalie's role in the Black Swan but I think it has a more whimsical take, apart from the stiff tutus in the movie.

You Know You Love Me...

Does anyone still have the same obsession with Gossip Girl as I do?  Despite the outlandish story lines and sometimes poor acting, I still sit down every week to see what kind of trouble Serena, Blair, Chuck, and Nate will get themselves into.  The amazing New York City scenery and the beautiful outfits draw me in as well as the fact that I am a huge fan of Blake Lively and Leighton Meester's fashion outside of the show.  However, I can't say that I am missing Jenny Humphrey's self wallowing presence on the show.
Some of my favorite Serena and Blair looks from Season 4 so far...
I absolutely love both of these looks that I believe are from the first episode of this season shot in Paris.  When I look at Blair's Moschino Resort 2010 dress and platform sandals, I can't help but think of Carrie Bradshaw.  One would think that all of the mismatched prints would be odd, but they come together seamlessly.  Also, I am dying for Serena's George Chakra Spring 2010 dress.  I am obsessed with any nude material mixed with a hint of shimmer.  I also love the addition of the grey boyfriend blazer.
I can't get enough of Serena's outfit in the second episode of this season.  Every part of her outfit works for me.  I'm obsessed with the gold sequined Pucci blazer, and the Joie top tucked into cropped Tibi trousers.  The bright blue definitely makes the outfit by adding a nice pop of color.  I'm also drooling over the studded Brian Atwood heels.  As for Blair, I usually am not a fan of red dresses.  However, this Oscar de la Renta gown has a hint of tangerine or orange and I am loving the color against her skin tone.
The looks on both Blair and Serena in this image just stands out as "classic" Gossip Girl to me.  Blair looking prim and proper from head to toe in a Nanette Lepore dress and a matching Nancy Gonzalez bag and Serena counterbalancing her with a slightly more relaxed look wearing a Madison Marcus top and Dolce & Gabbana shorts.  I also love that blue Mulberry bag - it's that color again.  Outfits such as these always make me want to be more daring, even though I don't think that bright yellow would ever look good on me.  I can't wait for what the rest of the season will have in store.

Welcome

Hello,
Welcome to Bella Immagine, a place where I hope to share my ideas and fascinations.  I recently turned 21 and I feel as though it has opened up a new world of adulthood to me.  I have always been obsessed with clothing and fashion for as long as I remember, sneaking magazines into my house during middle school in the fear that my mom would take them away from me.  I still recall the day she caught me reading one of her issues of W in the 7th grade and telling me that I was too young to look at it and how I remember thinking that all I wanted to look at was the pretty pictures inside.  Starting a blog is something that I have wanted to do for a long time, and I have finally gotten around to it, as it is blizzarding outside right now and I find myself with a moment of free time.   I will post here whatever I find inspiring at the moment.
